Term 3 COVID-19 Update from Jayke Burgess, Recovery College Manager
News | Posted on 29th Jul 2020
As you are likely aware, there has been ongoing COVID-19 cases in NSW. We have been challenged by the constant changes and are trying to make decisions based on the needs and safety of our community and staff. After much discussion and labouring over the decision, we have decided to continue all courses in an online format for this term.
We understand that this may be disappointing for those students who were hoping to return to a face-to-face workshop format. We agree that there is no substitute for the group dynamic and connection that often develops in person. Some of our students and educators have been pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of the workshop online, however, so if you haven’t tried it yet, now is your chance!
We will continue to adapt our courses for online delivery. Currently we have two new courses coming up on the schedule, Understanding Bipolar (details coming soon!) and Creativity for Wellbeing, which have been designed with a mind to offer these online. We are also working on adapting two very popular workshops, Understanding Schizophrenia and Grief & Loss, to the online format. (Check out Workshops and Programs.)
Do you have some ideas, concerns or feedback you would like to share with us? Please join me at the next Student Voice Virtual Cafe on 26 August from 4-5pm (*note this has changed from 18 August). We’d love to hear from you. Email or call us to RSVP for this meeting.
Stay safe and well,
Jayke Burgess
