The program

Western Sydney Recovery College is a collaborative, recovery-based college that seeks to increase the skills and knowledge of people we support (e.g. clients, consumers, carers, and professionals) in relation to mental health recovery in a supportive educational setting.

The role

The Peer Educator co-produces workshops with an Professional Educator and co-facilitates these workshops to a range of students across the Western Sydney Region. The aim of the workshops is to increase the knowledge, values and skills in relation to recovery and mental health practices

The key responsibilities include to:

  • Work with an Professional Educator and the recovery college staff in the co-production and co-facilitation of training
  • Act as a positive role model for consumers and carers by utilising personal recovery experience to support consumers and carers with their wellbeing and educational goals related to their recovery journey
  • Co-produce all workshop materials including session notes and handouts, PowerPoint presentation materials, and student workbooks as per contractual obligations
  • Facilitate learning for all students

What we are looking for

  • Lived/living Experience of Mental Health issues
  • Education and training experience in a group setting
  • Either:
    – Certificate IV in Training and Education or equivalent or working towards
    – Certificate IV in Peer Work (Mental Health) or other relevant qualification
