Having a Yarn for WSRC’s Birthday

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our end of term eventĀ – and our first birthday – on 4 July in Blacktown!

We were honoured to be joined by Uncle Greg Simms, local Aboriginal elder, for a Welcome to Country and a yarn ahead of NAIDOC Week 2018. Uncle Greg spoke about the importance of home, heritage and history, not just for Indigenous Australians but for all Australians.

She also offered a teaser for the Term 4 schedule, when we will be offering another certification course in partnership with the Mental Health Coordinating Council (MHCC), aiming to prepare students who have lived experience of mental health conditions or caring for those with mental health conditions for future studies.

Dianne Kersten also joined us to tell us more about the new partnership between WSRC and The Parramatta College, offering a Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways. We are excited about
