Building Self-Confidence

This program focuses on the theoretical and practical ways to build self-confidence and self-esteem. Self-confidence can help in the recovery process and empower individuals to take active ownership of their journey and help them engage fully in all aspects of their life. This program involves a mixture of practical sessions and education to integrate learning and allow students to practice skills that can be utilised in their individual lives.

Conversation about Change

All of us have things we’d like to change about ourselves; and nearly all of us have someone we know who we think needs to change. Talking about this is hard. We don’t want to be nagged and we don’t want to be a nag - but we know that we need to have the conversation.

LGBTIQ Introduction to Self-Advocacy

The Introduction to LGBTIQ Self-Advocacy workshop is designed to extend students’ understanding of self-advocacy in the context of LGBTIQ+ health, mental health and wellbeing. The workshop explores the principles that guide self-advocacy decisions and actions and how self-advocacy relates to personal recovery. The workshop explores a framework for analysing self-advocacy situations and approaches to planning, finding supports and accessing resources. Students will have the opportunity to apply this learning to relevant situations in a supportive environment.

Purposeful Storytelling

This workshop is highly practical and has an immediate application. It offers a logical approach to decision making about the use of personal storytelling, taking into account the many different contexts in which storytelling and disclosure situations arise. This workshop will benefit consumers and carers who are interested in exploring the use of their stories, whether that be within their personal life, their community, or when providing services as a lived experience (peer) worker or volunteer.
