Welcome to new WSRC Educators

At the heart of the Western Sydney Recovery College are the Educators who bring their skills and lived experience to each class and real understanding of recovery in mental health.

WSRC have recently welcomed five new educators who between them come from four different cultures, work in clinical and community based recovery services, and participate on consultative committees. They all bring with them a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of people experiencing mental distress and the families and communities we all live in.

The WSRC team welcome them to the college and look forward adding this wealth of knowledge and experience to the work we do.

Understanding Trauma

This course will provide an understanding of how trauma can be triggered during stressful events. Dr Bruce Perry’s ‘Three R’s: Regulate, Relate and Reason’ provides a framework for service users and service providers that uses calm connection as a means to improve the experience of service access and a foundation for effective collaborative problem solving.

Introduction to Problem Gambling

This workshop will explore the various impacts of problem gambling on the individual and the family focusing on mental health and multicultural communities. The workshop will provide examples of warning signs and the types of support that are available for those experiencing problem gambling and their families.

Strong Social & Emotional Wellbeing

This workshop provides students with the cultural understanding required to deliver mental health services within a social and emotional wellbeing framework. This course is open to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students.
